VR A2w 1925-1940 Ten

Victorian Railways A2 class - Walschaerts - Coal burning, flared top tender.
Constructed between 1915 and 1922, the Victorian Railways A2 class locomotives, fitted with Walschaerts valve gear, were the premier passenger locomotive of the Victorian Railways for over 40 years. With all upgraded to have Victorian Railways 'Modified Front End', most converted to oil burning in the 1940s, these locomotives were used all over the Victorian Railways mainline network on passenger, goods, and mixed trains.

This model represents the Walschaerts valve gear A2 class locomotives fitted without Modified Front End, kerosene headlam and marker lights, and flared top tender. Also featured is a small wooden propeller in front of the headlamp (when the headlamp is visible, but unlit); this was allegedly added by some loco drivers as a sign of the speed of their locomotives, appearing in a small number of photos of Walshaerts A2 locos!

The loco is presented in 'in service' condition, with 3 optional weathering levels. This model is fitted with screwlink couplings, and is set for the prototypical Broad Gauge (5ft3in gauge), for use with layouts with 5ft3in gauge track (you can also use them on standard gauge track, if you don't mind the wheels hanging over a little!).

This model was originally made by the late Bill 'Billegulla' Fock, and has been a long term project to upgrade to mapped textures, and more recently some mesh upgrades to better fit in with current models. I thank Bill so providing his model for upgrade, and have released this set in his memory. This version further expands this set, and features a flared top tender made by Peter_E!
