MBTA CTC-I Car

MN Shoreliner I Car

Based on a Pullman-Standard design from the late 1960s, these cars were dubbed 'Shoreliner' by the Metro North as they would only serve on shoreline routes. Trailer 'Car' cars were sandwiched between a locomotive and a 'Cab' car and had a slightly higher passenger carrying capacity than the 'Cab' car.

The Shoreliner cars replaced the ageing fleet of Penn Central commuter cars, the majority of which belonged to the New York Central and the New Haven railroads pre PC merger.
