CTA R36 Subway car

A reskin of the NYCTA R36 World's Fair subway car in Chicago transit (CTA) colors. The CTA does NOT actualy run R36s. but not being a modeler... this is as close as i can get.

NYCTA R36 World's Fair subway car
Between 1962 and 1964, the NYC Transit Authority purchases several hundred R33 and R36 subway cars from the St. Louis Car Company. They're generally classified as either 'mainline' or 'worlds fair' cars. Mainline cars have standard windows, while those of the worlds fair variety have 'picture' windows, which are larger and have rounded corners. The 'Worlds Fair' cars were originally used for the 1964 Worlds Fair in Flushing Meadows. These cars were recently retired, being phased out as the newer R142 were delivered. Originally equipped with fans, they were rebuilt with air conditioning units.
All R36 Worlds Fair cars were married pairs, while the R33WF's were single units. Originally, it was easy to spot the difference, as the R36's stripe wrapped around one end of the car. While these were originally mainly used on the Flushing line, by the mid-seventies, equipment shortages and breakdowns were so widespread that they could be found on any IRT line in the city, often coupled in consists with several other model cars in several other paint schemes. They could still be seen in the original paint scheme as late as 1982.
Engine specifications tweaked by Gary Hoorn. All other modifications by ProTrainz. For more details and operating instructions, please view the readme file.
