Brisbane Four Motor Tramcar 453

A total of 155 Four Motor type tramcas were built by the Brisbane City Council between 1938 and 1964. Trams were built in batches.
Each batch would introduce subtle changes to the style of the car i.e. earlier built cars were equipped with canvas roller blinds on doors for inclement weather.
This model represents numbers between 435 and 459 which where built between 1943 and 1946.
Cars were equipped with 4x40 hp AGE247 motors mounted in trucks built by the B.C.C. based on the Melbourne No.15 truck. Trolley pole bases were American General
Electric or a type fitted to Melbourne W5 class trams. (MMTB) and utilised the trolley wheel contact method.
This model is presented as the series would have appeared in the early 1960's when they were equipped with roofs that were covered with canvas. Later on, better fibreglass waterproofing methods were employed.
