CB&Q Bi-Level Commuter Cab Car

Chicago & Northwestern received their first bi-level commuter cars from the St. Louis Car Company in 1958. They proved popular, so in 1960, more were ordered from Pullman Standard. In addition, 50 cars with cabs capable of operating the train in 'push/pull' service were ordered, which made it possible to operate the trains on routes where there were no turning or run-around facilities for the engine. In 1978, all bi-level commuter equipment was re-assigned to the RTA, except some units which were assigned to Amtrak in 1974. These included 4 cab cars.
