First intoduced in 1932 The ‘14xx’ Class was originally classified as ‘48xx’(Auto fitted for working with trailer cars) in 1946 they were re-numbered The ‘14xx’ Class, they were to be found on the majority of Great Western Railway's branch lines and were taken on by British Railways on Nationalisation in 1948.
