Model Railroad 3.1 (Janimatie)
- INTRODUCTION Model RailRoad 3.1 -
Software: RAILROAD SIMULATOR 2019 (Europ) - Build: N3V GAmes Pty Ltd - 117009
Route: Model Railroad 2.0 (Janimatie,2024) <Kuid:116703:103785>Route built from 2018 to 2023 (corona years) Compiled with content from the Sabino Lake, Italy (1980s) package and downloads from the DLS offering.
The digital track plan is based on a play table with model trains set up in the 1990s at my home in room 3 on the first floor of our house.
The model railway included sets from the Joeuf, Fleischmann, and Roco brands.
The very first sets date back to my childhood in the early 1960s. I must have been about 10 years old at the time. It was a starter set from Joeuf that I received from Sinterklaas. That must have been when my love and enthusiasm for trains began.
However, after providing 10 years of fun, the model railway was dismantled and ended up in cardboard boxes in the attic. Unfortunately, it took up too much space and required a lot of maintenance. Moreover, I needed the space for other purposes.
But in 2004, thanks to the Trainz (Auran) software, I discovered the digital form of trains.
Around 2012, my interest waned, but that was mainly because my computer no longer met the system requirements of the game (Trainz 2010 at the time). In 2020, after purchasing a new, more powerful computer and the Trainz 2019 version, my interest and enthusiasm for the game was completely rekindled.
Now, after two years of COVID-19 and its aftermath, and having since retired, I had a lot of time on my hands and was able to devote myself to building a digital route based on the game table that was set up here at home in a room at the time.
The original console had an L-shaped surface with a total area of approximately 5.53 m2.
However, the base plate has been enlarged compared to the original model setup that served as an example for this digital version and enlarged by a scale of x 6.269. A fourth ‘base plate’ has also been added. (The L-shape thus became a rectangle). A bridge has also been added in Hummek, in the northwest corner, to allow for the expansion of a fifth base plate.
The (fictional) landscape comprises four residential and/or industrial centers:
1 LEIVE (referring to the city of Leuven where I was born and raised, where my roots lie). City with a station with 4 platforms for passengers and 2 separate tracks for loading and unloading vehicles and goods (= industry iND09 & iND10)
2 HUMMEK (referring to the municipality of Humbeek, a borough of Grimbergen). Hummek comprises a station with two platforms for passengers and one separate unloading platform for goods (= iND08).
There is also a marshalling yard (locshed D) for locomotives and a marshalling yard for rolling stock. The following industries are located here:
A refinery for loading petroleum and related products (= industry iND07) and a milk factory for loading milk and related products (= industry iND06).
3 HEVERLEE (municipality of Heverlee, part of Leuven, where I spent my childhood).
Station with 2 platforms for passengers and 1 track with a loading and unloading quay for goods (= iND11).
Also a shed (locshed C) for storing 2 locomotives and a small industrial zone for unloading petroleum and related products (= iND12).
4 SCHAERBEEK. (municipality of Schaarbeek, borough of Brussels)
Large marshalling yard for rolling stock of both freight wagons and passenger trains and 2 sheds for locomotives (locshed A & B)
Also a small station with 1 platform for passengers (marshalling yard employees) and several industrial zones including:
Loading of Vespa scooters and goods (= iNd01).
Loading of cars (= iND02)
Unloading of dairy products and derivatives. (= iND03).
Loading of foodstuffs (=iND04).
Unloading of petroleum and other products (= iND05.1).
Loading of foodstuffs (= iND05.2).
There is also a tram, partly underground (= premetro). This tram connects the three residential areas.
The rail network is not electrified, so only diesel locomotives run on it.
The route has been designed with great attention
