Negli anni '30 la Deutsche Reichsbahn non sviluppò alcuna locomotiva per treni passeggeri, a parte la piccola Br 24 per cui il carico di tale servizio rimaneva sulle spalle delle ormai sorpassate locomotive sviluppate prima della Prima Guerra Mondiale.
L'invecchiamento delle P8, sulle quali gravava gran parte di questo carico, rendeva necessario sviluppare macchine moderne, adeguate ai tempi e con caratteristiche di potenza e velocità superiori.
Utilizzando in gran parte materiali già disponibili, come ad esempio la caldaia ed il tender della Br 50 la Schichau presentò nel 1944 i prototipi di della serie 23. Gli avvenimenti bellici ne bloccarono la produzione in serie.
Visto il successo in termini di potenza e caratteristiche di marcia il progetto fu ripreso dopo la guerra da entrambe le società ferroviarie Tedesche, all'ovest con la 23, all'est con la 23.10, poi 35.
Il modello riprodotto propone il primo prototipo, la 23 001 nella versione originale.

Während der '30 hatte die Deutsche Reichsbahn außer der kleinen Br 24 keine Personenzuglokomotive entwickelt. Diese Sparte war noch komplett auf den Schultern der Länderbahnlokomotiven.
Es wurde deshalb gedacht, eine Lokomotive zu entwickeln, die die P8 (Br 38) ersetzen könnte.
Im 1944 Schichau lieferte zwei Prototypen dieser neuen Gattung, die aber wegen des Krieges nicht mehr in der Serie gingen. In der Entwicklung übernahm verschiedene Teile aus der vorhandenen Produktion, wie den Kessel und Tender der Br 50. Leistungsfähigkeit und Laufeigenschaften entsprachen alle Erwartung. Das Project wurde nach dem Krieg von beiden Deutschen Bahngesellschaften mit der Entwicklung der Br 23 (West) und 23.10 danach 35 (Ost).
Das vorgestellte Modell darstellt das Prototyp Br 23 001 in der Originale Fassung und ist eine Konvertierung von MSTS der hervorragend detailiertes Modell von Stoney (http://www.train-sim-werk.de), den wir hier nochmal bedanke, Fahrwerk und Kinematik von ALM für TrainzItalia International.

During the '30 only the small Br 24 class steam locomotive has been developed for the passenger service on mainlines. This service has been supported only by older locomotives developed at the beginning of the century.
The project for the next generation of that kind of locomotives toke life in two prototypes of the class Br 23, based mostly on parts already developed for other successful locomotives like the boiler and tender of the Br 50.
The II World War stopped any further development, but, after the war both German railroad companies developed locomotives based on that experience, the Br 23 in West Germany and the Br 23.10 (then Br 35) in East Germany.
Both these classes had a great success and lasted just until the end of the steam age in Germany.
The model represent the first prototype of the Br 23 001 in the version developed by Schichau in 1944 and is a conversion from the good detailed and textured shape of Stoney (http://www.train-sim-werk.de) that we thanks for his friendly agreement.
