Vickers Viscount

Vickers Viscount.
First flown in 1948 as the world's first purpose-designed turbo-prop transport the Vickers Viscount went on to become the most successful British Civil Aircraft in terms of numbers sold.
When production ended in 1964, 444 had been built in two main series; the 700 series; and the 800 series which featured a slightly lengthened fuselage.
It remained in widespread airline service throughout the 70's and 80's, the last examples being retired at the very end of the 90's.
