PKP Bwix 4AM St.Jelenia Gora

A total of 229 former prussian, saxonian, romanian, french, dutch and italian older passenger coaches were rebuilt by ZNTK Ostrow in the years 1961-1965. Original frames and bogeys were left, with new carbodies and interiors installed. The largest group of the rebuilt coaches was marked as type 4AM, 4-axle non-compartment coaches. They were split to 2nd class and 1st class versions, with 164 and 46 coaches of each. The coaches were equipped only with steam heating, and after 20 years of service most of the fleet was retired.
