PKP Jhx Schurzenwagen St.Gdynia

PKP Jhx restaurant car. This car represents a very modern serie of german pre-war built coaches, designed for IIIrd reichs most prized passenger trains. The so called WR4u-39 units were operated by Mitropa and brought a new design line to european coach design. After WW2 some coaches of this kind survived on PKP tracks and were adopted by Polish State Railways. Named Jhx they were used in regular service operated by WARS company. All were taken out of service in the mid 1970s. Their design was so elegant, that 14A sleeping cars designed in 1954 by HCP received a very similiar look.
