PKP Ashx CIWL St.Warszawa

In 1932 and 1939 H. Cegielski Factory in Poznan, Poland, built a group of large heavy Pullman restaurant cars for the CIWL company and their super prized Orient Express train connecting Paris with Istambul. Some of them were not completed before WW2 and were taken over by random countries. Two restaurant cars ended as special purpose saloon cars in DRG fleet and served Adolf Hitlers prime ministers and generals. After WW2 both stayed on the rails of Polish State Railways and were then operated by PKP. Immediatly one of them was turned into Polands 1st secretarys official saloon car. Known as Boleslaw Bieruts personal coach it remained in service until the end of the communism in Poland. The other cars history is hard to tell, some say it was scrapped, others that it was given back to France. The Bierut Saloon Coach was beautifully restored with the help of Mr. Lucas Derylak and stands on some sidetracks next to Warszawa West terminal. It is sometimes used for special occasion trains.
