PKP Afhixt 102Aa St.Pila

Several 102Aa type non-compartment coaches were built as 1st class units. They were designed for service with diesel motor railcars and received the letter D in front of the series line as a mark for remote control cable equipped. It was an addition usefull to operate the train from a motor car on the head end with another motor car in the back having no additional engineer in the cab. Very reliable with SN61 diesel motor railcars, popular for their breakdowns. When the head end-motor car got broke, the train could be still pushed by the second one at its end, operated from the cab of the broken down in front. There were even experiments with cab cars of 102A type, but eventually never got developed. All 1st class 102A type coaches were removed from service in the 1980s, some were reclassified to 2nd class and served a little while longer. TRS2004+
