BDZ 07.087.0 Depot.Varna

Except East Germany and Soviet Union, Bulgaria was the only country of the former eastern block to buy a larger group of TE109 family locomotives. In 1977 BDZ acquired 90 locomotives later classified as 07 class - equivalents of DR 131 class freight locomotives without electric train heating. In Bulgaria 07 class locomotives were allocated to Dubnica, Gorna Orjachovica, Plovdiv, Ruse and Varna depots. Lack of adequate finnancing effected with only 30 percent of the whole fleet to be operational in 1999, the following years were better since 52 units were in service in 2003. Locomotives no 06, 11, 23 and 24 were equipped with an additional electric heating device and a subclass 07.1 was created. This model represents no 087 and is based on photos made by Rumen Angelov.
