Belgian rotating disk shunt dwarf (ground) signal, for right-hand side placement. This version behaves like a ground stop signal with stop and caution aspects. It can be opened by a SHUNT state (through modifier or command) as well.

Belgian mechanical signalling, which was phased out during the latter half of the previous century, has received little attention and little photographic coverage, in contrast to its British ancestor. The Belgian association P.F.T. has published Histoire de la signalisation ferroviaire en Belgique - Tome II, a monograph on this subject (in French). For the proper use of Belgian signals, signal rule books should be consulted. These are either in French or in Dutch.
