VR Engine Shed - Melbourne
This is a faithful replica of the VR built (of Brick, Concrete and Corrugated Cement Sheeting construction) thirteen stall Engine Shed that stood in the Locomotive Depot at North Melbourne, located in the city of Melbourne, Victoria, which was the premier Locomotive Depot in the state. The Engine Shed is equipped with three internal 70 ft turntables (use 'VR 70ft BG Turntable - Melbourne A' <KUID2:1854:31509:1>, 'VR 70ft BG Turntable - Melbourne B' <KUID2:1854:31512:1> and 'VR 70ft BG Turntable - Melbourne C' <KUID2:1854:31511:1> only - provided separately but included in this asset's kuid-table) and is designed to accomodate 57 to 65 locomotives (depending upon their length) inside, with sufficient room to move around them front and back.
Because of the complicated nature of this shed's assembly, it can ONLY be aligned on a NORTH-SOUTH or EAST-WEST axis. When 'placing' the shed, start by locating the VR 70ft BG Turntable 'B' <KUID2:1854:31512:1> on the proper alignment and centrally to where the shed is desired to be. Next, 'attach' the other two Turntables ('A' and 'C') to the appropriately marked ends of Turntable 'B' (if this is done correctly, the Turntables will 'snap' together, convincingly and the tracks will align to complete the internal trackways). Once this portion of the assembly is satisfactoraly completed, the main shed may be added. Place the shed, rotated approximately along the same axis (NORTH-SOUTH/EAST-WEST) alignment of the Turntables but aligned so that the gable ends of the shed marked with the 'A' alongside the stalls are at the same end as Turntable 'A'(and the stalls marked 'C' match with the end at which Turntable 'C' is located). To finish the assembly, move the shed so that the two RED arrows (one 'attached' to the shed, the other to Turntable 'C') are 'point to point' and the shed will also 'snap' into place, completing the trackway connections from the exterior to the turntables in the proper manner. It is only neccessary to add the desired track attachments to the 'attachment points' located on the exterior of the shed to complete the installation and make this shed the 'premier' shed in your route.
