Big Bertha Tender - BR

Tender for Big Bertha in British Rail days. This tender may have been built for another locomotive and adapted for use for MR's Big Bertha 0-10-0 locomotive.

During its career, this tender bore the loco number 2290 when part of Midland Railways. After MR combined with LMS it bore the LMS characters. When LMS was combined into British Railways it bore the BR logo.

This tender has a partial cabin enclosure to protect the crew during the run back down the Lickey Bank after assisting trains.

During a coal mine strike it was fitted with an oil tank at the top and rear of the tender.

The water capacity was 2060 gallons (Imp) and coal capacity 4 tons.
