SAR Level Crossing Warning Board (Old Style)
South Australian Railways Warning Board for Level Crossings.
Used in pairs to guard crossings on both the older SAR and CR lines typical of the Broken Hill to Port Pirie lines as well as into the Flinders region and futther north in the state. These where gradually replaced with more modern style warning signs but these older style can still be found in use with examples found on the Pichi Richi line
Built typically using old 40lb rail with 12ft 6in extend above ground and an 8 foot wide sign. The 40lb rail would continue a further 4ft into the ground with a cross rail about 3ft wide for structural support. All of this then mounted ontop of an old piece of sleeper.
Original blueprint unclearly labled, Possibly CER 1368/16
