Noojee 1

The Warragul to Noojee railway was built in 4 stages, Warragul to Rokeby in 1890, Rokeby to Neerim South in 1892, Neerim South to Nayook in 1917 and finally Nayook to Noojee in 1919. It served the Timber Industry and Pastoral and Agricultural Industries in the Upper Latrobe River Area. There were seven large trestle bridges between Nayook and Noojee. One, No.6. was the largest ever built in Victoria. It was a hybrid timber and steel construction. No.7 still exists as a lookout on a Rail Waliking Trail.
There were 28 Timber Mills around Noojee in 1917. They were served by 200 km. of Narrow Gauge Lines from Noojee. Many Mills still exist in the area. The line was closed in two stages, Noojee to Nayook in 1954 and Nayook to Warragul in 1958. Warragul is depicted as in 1920 when the line opened.
