CIE Class 121
Original work by tcorken completely reskinned by pfx with kind permission. Lights, numbering and submesh by tmz06003. Although usually worked in pairs, bonnet to bonnet, they could be found working singly. As they were not permitted to run bonnet-first in usual conditions, a turntable was required to turn the loco when operating singly. They covered a wide range of traffic, from double headed express trains on the main line (including the Air Conditioned Mk2 coaches) to single headed stopping trains, block freight, freight liner trains and the decidedly weird Day Mail from Cork which up until An Post stopped sending mail by rail, was a daily semi-fast service comprising a steam heat van, two post office vans, two Cravens coaches and a single 121. No CIE/IE locomotive except the latest 201 class has been equipped with train heat or light power, so all Irish passenger trains (except the Dublin-Belfast Enterprise stock) has to have either a steam or electric generator van, and the steam heat vans still have a small generator for the lighting.
