BR Class 117 DMS RR

Built in 1960 by Pressed Steel Ltd, these sets became the backbone of the Western Region Surburban services out of London Paddington for many years. These reliable units were used, up until 1994, when Network SouthEast replaced them with a fleet of Class 165/6 Thames Turbo's.

This all but replace the Class 117's, as they soon found work elsewhere. Apart from a few sets, which escaped to Wales, many years earlier, some 117's went north to Scotland, where they saw another 7 years of service, same with the
