Porth Scathow Steam Railway

The Porth Scathow Steam Railway is a fictional preserved steam line that was once part of the Great Western Railway network in Cornwall. It operates as a scenic loop, with a former port terminus, now serving as the railway's main locomotive and carriage depot and several small village stations. Some of these stations include a goods yard and a diesel depot. Originally designed for short branch-line services, the railway is best suited to trains with no more than a locomotive and four coaches.

The railway ceased operations around 1968, coinciding with the end of the steam era, and much of the track was removed. The docks at Porth Scathow were sold to the local Port Authority. However, in the late 1970s, the line was preserved. Since then, it has lost its original mainline connection to Truro and now operates as a unique loop line. Fortunately, part of the former locomotive shed and turntable area at Porth Scathow was saved, following an agreement with the Port Authority to purchase this section of the old railway-connected port.

Most of the original infrastructure from the steam era remains intact, with only a few buildings having been demolished or replaced with replicas. Over the years, the railway has flourished as one of the premier seaside tourist attractions in the UK, becoming renowned for its high-quality maintenance facilities, impressive collection of locomotives, and well-preserved rolling stock.

The original route was built by “Eso” on TRS2010 and I have upgraded the entire route on TRS2022 with newer assets, signalling and gave it a new preserved railway look. Thank you to “Eso” for allowing his old routes to be modified and re-released to the Trainz community.
