Turntable Lane MPD

Turntable Lane MPD is a small fictional, model railway style layout based in London. The centre of its operation is a unique one as it relies on a turntable to enable the locomotives to move around the depot. It was an old steam depot which at the end of steam in 1967, it was upgraded to a diesel maintenance depot. The depot is set in the British Rail era of the 1970’s.

The old roundhouse mostly remains where locomotives can be stabled between duties. There is also a new heavy lift shop, a 2 road routine maintenance depot, a 2 road fuel point for up to 4 locomotives and a low loader access track. There are always at least 2 small diesel shunters on the depot to help with manoeuvres of broken or non powered rolling stock such as tanks with fuel to the fuel point.

There is a fiddle yard off the scene with a transfer table and portal. There are two continues raised loops for AI trains to go round on which adds interest to the scenic part of the layout. One is a subsurface London Underground line and a diesel mainline the other side. Each loop can have up to 4 trains following each other; I normally start 2 on the scenic side with another 2 on the opposite side of the loop to give a better interval between them.

It was built in TRS2019.
