LT R Stock Driving Motor Enginespec

Enginespec for London Underground R38, R47, R49 and R59 Stock Driving Motor (DM) and Non-Driving Motor (NDM) coaches. The R stock was used on the District Line between 1938 and 1983.

Up to 1971 the set formations were
6-car Off-Peak
DM-NDM-NDM-NDM+NDM-DM
8-car Peak
DM-NDM-NDM-NDM+NDM-DM+NDM-DM

From 1971 the sets were reformed into 7-car trains
Type A (7-car)
DM-NDM-NDM+NDM-DM+NDM-DM
Type B (7-car)
DM-NDM-NDM-NDM-NDM+NDM-DM

Maximum Speed 50mph

There are 5 notches
0 Off
1 Series/shunt - 0 to 5 mph
2 Series with RPA acceleration - 0 to 20 mph
3 Parallel/shunt - hold current speed/coast
4 Parallel with RPA acceleration - 0 to 50 mph

Notches 5-8 are a repeat of notch 4.

Fitted with Electro-Pneumatic Brakes (use the Dynamic brake key)
