NSWGR catenary wire spline for gently-curving double to single track transitions, LH
A catenary wire spline to transition from a double-track catenary spline (assets 30134-30137 in this series) to 2 single-track catenary splines (assets 390120-30131) on a gentle curve.
The starting spline point must attach to the double-track catenary spline and the terminal (second) spline point must attach to a single-track catenary spline. No intermediate spline points are allowed when laying this spline.
If the starting spline point is at the terminating end of the double-track catenary spline, then this spline will represent the continuation of the left-hand catenary of the double-track catenary spline.
The gap between the double-track and single-track terminating spline points for joining must be between 35 and 70m. This spline will bridge such a gap without repeats.
Suitable for straight track and for curvatures with a radius exceeding 450m. For sharper curves use <kuid:368725:30141>. The default height of the pickup wire above the railtop is 5.3m, midway within the NSW operating range of 4.75 to 5.8m.
The model meshes are based on those in a workbook provided by David Owen (davido). Thanks to David for sharing his work.
