Miniature Electric Staff Instrument, TGR
A McKenzie & Holland miniature electric staff instrument as used by Tasmanian Government Railways (TGR).
The model is interactive and is intended to be operated by a 'Safeworking Officer',<kuid2:368725:15000:5>, using the 'SWO Controller Rule',<kuid2:96148:94051:16>.
This model is the main unit of a 2-unit instrument. It must be co-located with the associated asset 'Miniature Electric Staff Instrument, Bell Unit, TGR' <kuid:368725:90024>.
An instrument can only accept staffs of one pattern. No adjacent staff section uses the same pattern. The model allows the user to select the pattern handled for each instance of it on the map. Open 'Edit Properties' in Surveyor and toggle the control to set the pattern.
For correct operation there must be an instrument (main plus bell units) that accepts the same staff pattern at each end of the staff section. These instruments MUST use a naming convention. A 3-character location code is allocated to each location. If 'ABC' is the code at one end and 'DEF' is the code at the other end, then the A-end instrument is given the local name 'ABC_MSI_DEF' and the B-end instrument is given 'DEF_MSI_ABC'.
The associated bell units must also conform to the naming convention. The bell unit associated with main unit '<local location code>_MSI_<remote location code>' must be named '<local location code>_MSB_<remote location code>'.
The local safe-working officer must be named '<local location code> SWO'.
