LE&E Lightweight Pullman 6-6-4 Sleeper

On February 4, 1911, The Illinois Central Railroad renamed its 'Chicago & New Orleans Limited' as 'The Panama Limited'. On November 15, 1916, the train became a luxury, all Pullman car service. Due to the depression the Panama Limited was withdrawn from service in May of 1932. The train returned to service just a little over two years latter, in December of 1934, with the first air conditioned cars in the country. In 1942, the train was streamlined, and painted its classic brown, orange and yellow livery along with a matching E6 ABBA engine set. The Panama Limited was one of the last (if not the last) trains to feature an 'all Pullman' consist, as some records show it ran no coaches right up until Amtrak assumed its operation in 1971.
This particular consist matches one from 1942, when you'd find a baggage/dorm, 2 6-6-4 sleepers, 18 roomette sleeper, lounge, diner, 4-4-2 sleeper, 2 6-4-4 sleepers, and a lounge/observation car.
Illinois Central 6-6-4 sleeper. The 6-6-4 is a model of the second-most-popular type of streamline sleeper, representing a car with six open sections, six roomettes, and four double bedrooms.
