Potash Line

Construction of this line, by the D&RGW, began in 1962 and was completed in 1964, therefore only ever operated with diesel power units.
It was built to serve a potash mine (elevation 3,952 ft) located on the Colorado River, a few miles south-west of Moab, eastern Utah. The mainline connection to serve the 37-mile route was made at Brendel (also known as Crescent Junction), Utah, (elevation 4908 feet).
The line is little known, since it was built so late, never had any passenger service and is in a lightly-populated area of the state.
The line was chosen as a Trainz model because of the stark yet beautiful scenery along the short route.
A typical train would be a consist of 40 100-ton covered hoppers into the mine and a trainload of those same cars outwards, in the latter case hauled by 3 SD40's, for example.
