WD 2-10-0 Dame Vera Lynn

The WD 2-10-0 was an enlarged development of the WD 2-8-0 and intended for use overseas. No. (7)3672 was originally shipped to Egypt but was soon sold to the Greece to operate on the Hellenic State Railways. Numbered Λβ 960, it ran until 1979 when it was purchased by Mid Hants Railway members. It was sold to the Lavender line in 1984 and renamed to 'Dame Vera Lynn' in 1985. Deciding that it was too big for the line, it was sold to Clifford Brown who decided the loco should be based at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
