Southern Railway Class E1R 0-6-2T (Pre-1941)

The E1R tanks were rebuilds of The LBSCR Stroudley E1 tanks, to the design of Richard Maunsell. The rebuild involved a new cab, greater coal capacity and a trailing axle. They mostly worked in Devon and were stationed at Barnstaple, Exmouth and Plymouth. Withdrawals came in 1955 with the last member of the class being withdrawn in November 1959.
