BR Class 423 4VEP TSO Blue & Grey

Formation: DTC + TSO + MBSO + DTC

The ubiquitous BR blue & grey first appeared on the VEPs in 1970, replacing all over blue, however the final batch of veps built 1973, had the livery applied from new. All members of the class carried the livery until the creation of Network Southeast in 1986, when the NSE toothpaste livery was introduced, however many examples carried blue & grey well into the late 80s, albeit with the addition of NSE markings.

The British Rail Class 423 4-VEP (Vestibule Electro Pneumatic) 3rd Rail EMU was argueably the backbone of British Rails Southern region fleet for 38 years (1967 - 2005), although intended for semi stopper work, they were often seen on express and suburban services as well. They were the most numerous of all Southern EMU types, with 194 built, they operated on all three Southern Region Divisions (Those being South Eastern, South Central and South Western Divisions).

My thanks to garygreen for allowing me to use his luggage cage textures.
