F&WHR 2015 High Summer Base - T:ANE

This session conatins all the locos and rolling stock required for a typical summers day on the F&WHR in 2015. Here are some operating instructions for shunting at the start of the day (this assumes 'yellow' timetables on both railways):

Porthmadog:
- Garratt 87 moves to Porthmadog Harbour and collects F set from 4 road, moves it to WHR platform (platform 2) and runs around.
- Merddin Emrys moves to Porthmadog Harbour and shunts spare coaches from 5 road onto A Set in the FR platform (platform 1).
- 0940 WHR train departs for Caernarfon with 87.
- Linda couples to B Set (in Boston Lodge carriage shed) and takes it across the cob to the WHR platform (platform 2) and runs round.
- 1010 Departs for Blaenau with Merddin Emrys.
- Earl of Merioneth couples to C Set (in Boston Lodge carriage shed) and takes it to FR platform (platform 1) at Porthmadog (such that observation car is just clear of footcrossing).
- Earl of Merioneth uncouples from the train and then shunts spare coaches from 2 road onto to the front of the train.
- 1040 departs for Blaenau with Linda.
- 1135 departs for Blaenau with Earl of Merioneth.

At Dinas things are much simpler.
- Garratt 138 moves from the loco shed, through the station and couples onto E set in the release road.
- At 0930 (approx.) 138 takes the train to Caernarfon and runs round.
- The train departs at 1000.

If you get all the way through the day here are the shunting instructions for the end of the day.

Porthmadog:
- Merddin Emrys arrives back with A set at 1640, enters the FR platform, runs round and shunts the spares back to 5 road. Merddin Emrys waits in the yard.
- Linda arrives back with B set at 1710 and enters the WHR platform.
- Linda decouples from B set and couples to A set in the FR platform.
- Merddin Emrys hauls B set back to 13 road (carriage shed 'inland side') at Boston Lodge. Merddin Emrys then returns to the loco shed via the loop behind the carriage works.
- Linda departs with the 1805 train.
- Earl of Merioneth arrives back with C set at 1815, enters the FR platform, runs round and shunts the spares back to 2 road.
- Earl of Merioneth shunts C set into 4 road and then waits in the yard.
- 138 arrives with E set into the WHR platform at 1825.
- 138 decouples from E set and moves to Boston Lodge to the siding next to the loco shed (where 87 was in the morning).
- Earl of Merioneth couples to E set in the WHR platform and hauls it to 14 road (carriage shed 'seaward side') at Boston Lodge. Earl of Merioneth then returns to the loco shed via the loop behind the carriage works. (This happens because the Garratt doesn't fit through the carriage shed.)
- Linda arrives back with A set at 2045 and enters the FR platform.
- Linda leaves A set in the FR platform and returns to the loco shed.

Dinas:
- 87 brings F set back to Dinas from Caernarfon and enters the release road.
- 87 shunts F set into the left hand side of the carriage shed.
- 87 goes to the loco shed.

Notes:
- All loops observe right hand running with the exceptions of Rhiw Goch. At Rhiw Goch all trains use the mainline unless they are timetabled to pass there, in which case the first train to arrive (usually the up train) uses the mainline and the second train to arrive enters the loop.
- A set has observation car 100, B set has 111, C set has 102, E set has 2100 (Glaslyn) and F set has 2115 (Bodysgallen).
- For a day with a 'blue' FR timetable and 'yellow' WHR timtable everything is largely the same: Just ignore any instructions involving Linda or B set and have Merddin Emrys put A set in 4 road after it returns to Porthmadog at 1640 and Earl of Merioneth leave C set in the FR platform.
