VR Y 111 1954+ (Bendigo Pilot)

In 1951 Y 400 was sent to Newport to be renumbered to Y 100. It was stored at Newport Workshops for some time as it had front end damage and needed repairs it was sent to Ballarat where the repairs and reboilering took several months as it's low priority, in 1954 it was converted to auto/duel couplers and on 03/05/1954 it was sent to Geelong with EE 379 where they opperated the yards for the next 5 years, EE 379 mainly shunted around Geelong Station and the Pier, however Y 100 would also go out to Colac on goods and stay there for several hours shunting, sometimes it'll go out to Cressy then back to Colac and return to Geelong at night.

Y 100 was moved to Newport workshops on April 1959 then withdrawn 22/06/1959, the locomotive was offered to the City of Ballarat for display but they declined the offer and the locomotive was scrapped. In my opinion the Geelong Council should of aquired the locomotive for Display as there is several area's where it could of been placed, also Geelong never aquired any locomotives at all even though they had lots of K's, J's, R's and some D3's stored into the 1970s, although Geelong became a large major town because of the Railway which brought people and lots of Goods came in and out, Geelong seems to have no interest in any Historical stuff to do with the Railway while every other large and small town plinthed a locomotive across Victoria.

This model represent it running around Bendigo after duel couplers where fitted, was off register 1956.
