VL VOSX T4a - 1980+

During 1979 ELX 132 was modified by fitting ridge gear and placing cradles on the floor and was a prototype for the transportation of Steel Coil Rolls between Long Island and Port Adelaide and coded VOCX 132, this conversion increased the average tare from 22 tonnes to almost 30 tonnes and restricted the load weight, however the cradles could only hold the min size coils which where about 0.760 metres in diameter 2 metres long and weighed around 2 tonnes each, the cradles can hold 10 rolls, in February 1980 another twenty nine where converted from ELx, VOBX, VOCX numbered 14, 80, 109, 126, 136, 148, 179, 191, 195, 208, 219, 220, 224, 248, 252, 257, 271, 272, 309, 316, 351, 392, 412, 415, 435, 437, 438, 441, 450 and coded VOSX 2 to 30 with VOCX 132 becoming VOSX 1.

This model represents the Type 3 ELX numbered 109 to VOSX 21 between 1980 to 1984 on Broad Gauge, Step's created by Zec.
