VR Platform - Moorabool - T1

Moorabool is a Railway Station on the Geelong–Ballarat railway line that opened in 1862 and sitting at a height of 191ft above Hobson's Bay Low Water Mark and is on a slight grade of 1in179. It was originally known as Steiglitz Road and is located east of another heritage structure, the Moorabool Viaduct. The station is no longer served by passenger services, being passed by freight trains and The Overland.The station building was built in 1861 by a private contractor for the Victorian Railways and comprises a single storey gable roofed basalt station building, with two storey residence attached. The station buildings were sold in 1977 and currently serve as a private residence.

This model represents the station as built from 1861 till 1910, the down Gheringhap side platform was abolished due to the Viaduct structual weakening and the line was converted to single track.
