VR I T3a 1900+

The Victorian Railways Type 3 I Wagons were constructed from 1860 out of Iron with a drop down door which seems to be standard to that time period.

This model represents the wagon built by Wright & Sons England 1860 with a rather unique axle box, W-irons and no handbrake with prototypical running numbers from the 1907 register using new built wagons from 1879 to 1890 as a guide. I believe this order of 21 wagons was placed by the Geelong & Melbourne Railway Co. in 1859 to replace worn rollingstock and by the end of 1859 the Company was bought by the Victorian Government with the wagons arriving in Victoria in 1860 and numbers following on from the last wagon built which was number 115 taking numbers 116 to 136. In 1898 Six wagons where modified with Westinghouse through brake pipe and ratched handbrake. Numbers 122, 131, 132 where off register from 1896 to 1898 and 135 off register 1903 with the modified Five still on register. These wagons where later restricted to Newport yard from 1907 with all five taken off register December 1908, it is unknown when they where scrapped.
