VL RQFY T2b - 1994+

In 1978 a new design of container wagon was built to the FQX design with cutouts in the frame to lighten the tare weight and was coded QMX, the reason being is the maximum weight on the Broad Guage is 76 tonnes which is an axle load of almost 19 tonnes, so the heavier the tare weight is the less load it can carry, the FQX wagons are almost 23 tonnes and can carry 51 tonnes by making the QMX lighter it can carry 57 tonnes. Between 1979 and 1980 these where recoded VQFX then to VQFY in 1985 and fitted with Super Service bogies and used between Melbourne and Adelaide on superfreighters. From April 1994 all VQFY where recoded to RQFY in preperation of National Rail Corparation (NRC), going into mid 1995 they where all put on Standard Gauge and handed over to NRC.

This model reprents the RQFY wagons and numbered 100 to 135 when they where still running between Melbourne and Adelaide from April 1994 till March 1995 on Broad Gauge, Step's created by Zec.
