VR S Flat T2 - 1979+

The first two S Wagons numbers 1 & 2 were built by the American Car & Foundry company in the U.S.A. and assembled at Newport workshops in 1925. The other 99 were converted from E wagons for wartime traffic between 1941 and 1942 and kept there original E numbers, E 1 was renumbered to S 203 as there was already an S 1. With a change in needs by the railways a large number were rebuilt back into E wagons between 1947-1949. In late 1976 this wagon was fitted with 20ft I.S.O Container brackets, it was recoded to VFDA in July 1979, photos have shown this wagon running the Melbourne-Wangaratta Line (North Eastern Region) and worked as a single container wagon in the train rather than working with other container wagons, containers where loaded/unloaded with a ramp from the platform to the wagon and a Forklift loaded/unloaded the goods, this wagon was converted to Railway Service Stock HR 74 in January 1981 to transport wheels between workshops.

This model represents number 115 from 1979 till 1981 recoded as VFDA with container brackets and dirty Wagon Red, Steps created by Zec.
