VR ELX G3 - 1980+

In 1979/80 Fifty Six ELX/VOCX wagons where recoded to VOCY for Vic Rail Freight Centre Traffic. Large stations in regional Victoria were given the status of 'Freight Centre' in an effort to remove LCL (Less-than Car Load) traffic and small wagons loads from small stations, while the wagons where supposed to stay in Victoria some ended up going to South Australia and others getting SG bogies and going in to New South Wales, from 1981 some where recoded back to VOCX and one went to VOVX in 1982, from 1984 only a handfull remained as Road Trucks where getting bigger and took over some of the LCL freights and the railways moving to Bulk loads.

Freight Centres where located at North Melbourne, Tottenham, Geelong, Dandenong, Bendigo, Sale, Morwell, Graham, Warnamabool, Bairnsdale.
