CSX PH&D Industrial Branch Winter

CSX now operates the former Port Huron and Detroit line from Port Huron to DTE Belle River Power Plant just south of St. Clair, MI. The line is called the CSX Port Huron Industrial Track / Branch and is the only railroad property owned by CSX in the county of St. Clair, MI.

At one time CSX, former Chessie / C&O, former Pere Marquette, operated three different lines out of Port Huron. In 1985 Chessie System purchased the PH&D from the Duffy family. By then, Chessie had only one route out of Port Huron, its Port Huron Sub between PH and Saginaw, MI. The other two lines have long since been abandoned (PM Almont Branch and Bad Axe to Port Huron line north to Croswell Abd.). It is interesting to note that CSX still owns lots of vacant ROW that has been abandoned for 40+ years.
