D&RGW K-36 Mikado #482

The K-36 class was built for the D&RGW by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philidelphia, PA in 1925. There were 10 locomotives of this class built. They were numbered #480 to 489. The K-36's were the last new narrow gauge engines purchased by the D&RGW. The #482 was retired in 1962 and stored in Alamosa. #482 was then sold to the Cumbres & Toltec in 1970 and returned to service. In October of 1991 the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad aquired the #482 by trading K-37 #497 to the C&T. The #482 is still in operation on the D&S.
