1936 2-6-2 ‘Green Arrow’ (class V2) fast mixed traffic class is introduced. Gresley`s V2`s were conceived as a heavy mixed traffic locomotive. In the event they also proved ideal on express passenger duties, and when in first class order proved a match for the A3 Pacifics on the East Coast Main Line

No. in class: 183. Built: 1936-1944. A mixed traffic 3-cylinder class. Withdrawn: Last of class - 1965

Green Arrow LNER Number:4771, then 800 and BR 60800, power classification 7P6F is the sole surviving member of the class and was the forerunner of 183 'V2' locomotives.

No.60800 was based at Kings Cross for its entire working life with the exception of a six week period from May 1953 when it was temporarily transferred to Woodford Halse on the former Great Central Railway.

The 'V2' class was very popular on the Great Central when they ran on the line in the 1930's and after the war.

No.60800 was withdrawn from service in 1962 and immediately became part of the National collection.
It was returned to main line running in 1973 appearing in LNER livery and took part in the 'Rail 150' cavalcade at Shildon to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opening the Stockton & Darlington Railway.

In 1998 after an overhaul, it returned to steam in Brunswick green livery.
