Found an old drawing from SJ Maskinbyrå from the year 1905. There was the specified R loco, which was later manufactured in 1908.
Interestingly, there also was a specification on a Mallet locomotive that would replace the R loco in the long run.
However, we know that SJ instead invested in Electric operation, which certainly was the right way to go.
In any case, the mallet loco could have looked like this!
SJ serial letter, number, and manufacturer are fictitious, but the No. 999 was never used by SJ.


Hittat en gammal ritning från SJ Maskinbyrå med årtalet 1905. I den finns specificerat R loket,
som sedermera tillverkades 1908.
Intressantare var dock en specifikation på ett Mallet lok som skulle ersätta R loket på sikt.
Emellertid vet vi ju att SJ istället satsade på el drift, vilket säkerligen var rätt väg att gå.
I vilket fall som helst kunde det ha sett ut så här!
SJ littera, nummer och tillverkare är påhittat, men nr 999 blev aldrig utnyttjat av SJ.
