SJ built during the years 1908-1916 46 pieces S locomotives for passenger traffic over medium distances.
During the 1930s some S locomotives were sold to Swedish private railway companies such as MSJ, TGOJ and CHJ.
Some of the locomotives were wood burning during WWII.
The locomotives were in the service of SJ until 1964.
Max speed was set to 80 km/h and the pulling force to 7.4 Mp.
Today, there are still some S locomotives preserved such as numbers 1260 (Kristanstad Museum), 1277 (FVJ), 1280 (SKJ)
and 1178 (England)
Modeled S 1254 was built by Motala Workshop in 1915 and scrapped in 1973 by Kalmar workshop.


SJ lät under åren 1908-1916 bygga 46 stycken S lok för persontågstrafik över medellånga avstånd. Under 1930-talet
såldes ett antal till svenska privat banor såsom till MSJ, TGOJ och CHJ.
Vissa av loken var vedeldade under andra världskriget.
Loken var i tjänst hos SJ fram till 1964.
STH sattes till 80 km/t och dragkraften till 7,4 Mp.
Idag finns fortfarande en del S lok bevarade såsom exempelvis nr 1260(KristanstadMuseum), 1277(FVJ), 1280(SKJ)
och 1178(England)
Modellerade S 1254 byggdes av Motala Verkstad 1915 och skrotades 1973 av Kalmar Verkstad.
