SW9 Montour 73

The Montour Railroad was a coal-hauling railroad 41 miles long that semi-circled Pittsburgh and connected with the P&LE. It was owned 50-50 by P&LE and PRR as of 12/31/46, but P&LE bought the other 50% interest in 1975. MTR dieselized with SW7's #70-72 and SW9's #73-84. Subsidiary Youngstown & Southern was sent the SW7's in 1953. In about 1981, with declining traffic and worn out power, MTR retired its SW9's and was supplied with 6 P&LE SW1500's.
