RS3 CNJ 1535 L&NE

Central Railroad of New Jersey took over and operated two pieces of the Lehigh & New England after 1961. 5 or 6 RS3's and or RSD4's were kept on hand to operate the lines, some of the RS3's being ex-Reading. They received L&NE stencils on their cab sides since the CNJ operation of the line was called the L&NE Railway (as opposed to the L&NE Railroad which shut down in October 1961).

Old KUID's for enginespec was 52779:9001, for enginesound
was -1:42003001, and for hornsound was -1:42003101.

This is the Alco RS3 Road Switcher. The RS3
is powered by the 12 cylinder 244 prime mover
giving 1600 Horse Power. The RS3 was produced
by Alco during the years 1950 to 1956. This
is the second most popular Alco engine
produced with 1,418 units made during the
production run.
