West Trenton Station

West Trenton Station. This Georgian-style station was built by the Reading (RDG) in 1929. Tbe northern terminus of the Reading's electrified territory was located here, just inside New Jersey, in Ewing Township, which is now operated by SEPTA. It also served as a connection point for Philadelphia - New York-area commuter service. The yard immediately to the east (north) was a major junction - in fact, named Trenton Junction - which not only provided the through services between the aforementioned cities, but also service into Trenton and other points in New Jersey, not to mention extensive freight service. West Trenton station itself is, today, still a rather bucolic place to railfan; electric MUs, electric push-pulls, and frequent reights and be found running through the station at all hours. It should be mentioned that the smaller station (on the inbound or westbound side, closest to Track 1) is the only active station and that has been the case for at least 30 years; the larger station has been used as an architechts office until recently.

In order to make this station as generic as practical, I've left out a few local elements, although those will be made available separately: The West Trenton Station Platform sign (which is different than the signs that sit by the sides of roads); the SEPTA system map; three-sided billboards; and, a Trentonian newspaper machine.
