GSR J15A No.704

A Great Southern Railway Class 700(J15A) Locomotive No.704 was built in 1929 at Inchicore, Dublin. The GSR wanted to build an improved J15 Class built by the GS&WR as they were able travel on any section of track on the GSR network and the most versatile steam engines built for Irish Railways. So the GSR built the J15A and the J15B Classes, fitted with Belpaire Boilers. However they couldn't beat the original J15's and were all withdrawn by the early 1960's whereas the J15's continued on.
