SE Ireland P1 1948

Its 1948 in the South East of Ireland. Ever since Eamonn De Lalera has become head of the Irish Government he has been dismantling the Treaty by making the Irish Free State to be called Èire and becoming a non-British Commonwealth Country, also by winning the Economic War where Ireland continued to increase the price of cattle imported to Britain when Britain increased the price of goods imported into Ireland, Eamonn De Valera made a deal to stop the Economic War if Britain gave Ireland the three ports they still had power over in Ireland.

A more different war was World War II where Eamonn De Valera announced Ireland to be Nuetral in the War as Ireland was still underdeveloped, small and still suffering from the last few wars. As Ireland was Nuetral, ships had large Irish flags and EIRE painted on the sides but many of these ships were still attacked and lost but were a vital income of supplies to Ireland. Also German Planes that were planning on bombing British Cities had accidently Bombed Dublin and the Creamery in Campile.

The Great Southern Railways were under huge pressure as the coal in Ireland was bad for steam engines and Britain at the time was using theirs for the War effort. Trains had to make do with Peat(Turf) and recycled coal dust, this made train services very long due to lack of steam and by the end of the War the Great Southern Railways joined up with the Grand Canal Company and the Dublin United Transport Company and together they became a new company called Coras Iompair Eireann in 1944.

However its 1948 and coal is getting scarce due the British Coal Mines being exhausted from the war, CIE have already been converting some steam engines to Oil Burners but the future doesn't look good.
