Betula pubescens README
Betula pubescens, Eng. Downy Birch, Finn. [hies]koivu. Grows widely in
Eurasia.
The tree is the other native Finnish Birch. It is less demanding than B.
pendula in
the way of soil and is often seen in marshland and other wet habitats. The
foliage is
less dense and decorative, the tree is smaller and more short-lived than B.
pendula, and
is therefore not much planted.
